Shopify Collaborator Access - Why Mountainy Requires Access
Last updated: February 28, 2026
Mountainy is built by experienced ecommerce operators
We understand Shopify inside and out. That background shapes how we approach every integration, we ensure your store is set up correctly to support growth without creating fulfillment bottlenecks or operational friction.
Some permissions are required for the integration to function properly, while others are highly recommended to ensure accuracy and provide stronger overall support.
What This Access Enables
Shopify Collaborator access allows Mountainy to:
Install and configure the ShipHero integration
Configure fulfillment locations
Sync orders and inventory accurately
Troubleshoot configuration-related issues
Provide enhanced support when additional visibility is granted
In some cases, Mountainy may request broader permissions than what is strictly required for basic integration. This ensures we have full visibility to properly configure your store, troubleshoot issues efficiently, and support you beyond fulfillment. Collaborator access does not grant Mountainy access to billing information, payouts, or control over ownership settings.
What We Need From You
To initiate access, you will need to provide the following:
.myshopify.com store URL - ( Found in Shopify Domain Settings )

Shopify collaborator code - ( Found in Shopify Users Security Settings )

Once these details are received, Mountainy will send a collaborator request through Shopify for approval.
Required Access
When approving the Collaborator request, please ensure the following permissions are enabled. These permissions are necessary for ShipHero to install properly and for Mountainy to configure fulfillment accurately:
Orders
View orders
Edit orders
Products
View products
Edit products
Inventory
View inventory
Manage inventory
Apps
Install and manage apps
These permissions allow us to configure and ensure orders, inventory, SKU's and shipping methods sync accurately between Shopify and ShipHero.
Why We Require This Access
Installing & Configuring ShipHero
The ShipHero app must be installed within your Shopify store to establish the integration. Once installed, ShipHero connects your storefront to Mountainy’s warehouse management system.
This enables:
Order syncing between Shopify and ShipHero
Real-time inventory updates
Tracking updates to flow back to customers
Configuring Fulfillment Locations
Warehouse location settings must be configured within Shopify to ensure accurate order routing and inventory assignment.
This enables:
Proper inventory assignment to the Mountainy warehouse
Accurate routing of orders to the correct fulfillment location
Verifying Product & Inventory Setup
Product and variant configurations must be reviewed to confirm correct SKU mapping and inventory tracking.
This helps:
Prevent overselling
Ensure bundles and multipacks are mapped correctly
Maintain inventory accuracy through every step
Optional Access - Additional Permissions for Broader Support
Some permissions we request are not required to complete the ShipHero integration. However, they may allow Mountainy to provide stronger operational support beyond fulfillment setup.
Since our team has extensive experience working inside Shopify, additional visibility can help us identify configuration inconsistencies, troubleshoot common issues, and assist with store-related questions that may impact order flow or customer experience.
This enables:
Faster resolution of configuration-related issues
Assistance with routing, mapping, or syncing discrepancies
Support with common Shopify operational challenges
The Following Permissions Are Optional but Enhance the Level of Support Mountainy Is Able to Provide
Locations
Manage locations
Location access allows Mountainy to configure warehouse location settings directly, ensuring routing logic and fulfillment behavior are set up correctly the first time. Proper location configuration helps prevent misrouted orders or inventory discrepancies.
Shipping & Delivery
View and manage shipping and delivery settings
Shipping access allows Mountainy to confirm carrier mappings between Shopify and ShipHero and review newly created or updated shipping methods. This helps ensure service levels are mapped correctly and orders route using the intended carrier settings.
Customers
View customers
Customer visibility assists with troubleshooting address issues, reviewing order history when resolving fulfillment-related questions, and identifying discrepancies more efficiently.
Analytics & Reports
View analytics and reporting
Analytics access gives Mountainy additional visibility to help identify discrepancies, troubleshoot configuration issues more efficiently, and assist with common operational questions beyond fulfillment setup.
These additional permissions can help with stronger operational insight and faster resolution of issues that may arise.
Security & Access Transparency
Collaborator access:
Does not provide visibility into billing or payout information
Does not allow changes to store ownership
Can be revoked at any time within Shopify
Is used strictly for integration, configuration, and support
You remain in full control of access and visibility at all times.
